Description: 2 piece secretary bookcase. Upper section: 2 glass front bookcase doors opening to 3 adjustable shelves. Upper crown with "basket weave" pattern and ornate burl top. Lower section: Cylinder roll top secretary over 3 graduated drawers. Secretary interior having pigeonholes and drawers.
Materials: Walnut. Burl walnut. Pine secondary. Glass front doors. brass hardware.
Dimensions: Height: 95". Width: 41". Depth: 23".
Locality and Period: Better furniture centers throughout the U.S. c.1870.
Comments: Nice combination walnut and burl walnut details.
Chippendale Slant-front Bureau Desk

Description: Slant-front bureau desk with plain, unmolded top. Batten lid falls forward onto 2 pull-out support slides. Interior well with central locker having carved "fan" flanked by pigeonholes and drawers. Straight front with 4 graduated, full length drawers. Protruding molded base with molded bracket feet. Dovetailed construction.
Materials: Mahogany. Pine secondary. Brass hardware.
Dimensions: Height: 41-1/2". Width: 36". Depth: 20".
Locality and Period: New England west to Ohio. c.1770-90.
Comments: This fine example of Chippendale design was professionally restored by "Conestoga Furniture Shop" in Berwyn, Pennsylvania as documented with a paper label on the back, dated Nov. 27, 1968.

Lower section: Butler's desk upper drawer over 3 full length bureau drawers. Brass lion's head & ring pulls (older replacements). Plain board sides. Shaped skirt with out-swept French feet. Dovetailed construction.
Materials: Mahogany solids & veneers. Oak & various secondary woods. Glass front bookcase doors. Brass pulls.
Dimensions: Height: 88". Width: 48". Depth: 20-3/4.
Locality and Period: c.1790-1810
Comments: Unique configuration having butler's desk drawer in the bureau.
