Description: Compact size writing desk with slant lift-top writing surface, metal inkwell and pen compartments and upper gallery. Lift-top opens to reveal storage compartment with pigeon hole organizers. Tapered, inlaid square legs terminating in casters.

Chippendale Slant-front Bureau Desk

Description: Slant-front bureau desk with plain, unmolded top. Batten lid falls forward onto 2 pull-out support slides. Interior well with central locker having carved "fan" flanked by pigeonholes and drawers. Straight front with 4 graduated, full length drawers. Protruding molded base with molded bracket feet. Dovetailed construction.
Materials: Mahogany. Pine secondary. Brass hardware.
Dimensions: Height: 41-1/2". Width: 36". Depth: 20".
Locality and Period: New England west to Ohio. c.1770-90.
Comments: This fine example of Chippendale design was professionally restored by "Conestoga Furniture Shop" in Berwyn, Pennsylvania as documented with a paper label on the back, dated Nov. 27, 1968.
